Aly Fell is definitely one of my favorite artists out there. He’s UK based and and his work, which mainly involves pin-up artwork, has a lovely illustrated feel and a very comic book style.
The Black Queen is not one of his latest work, but is for sure one of his best pieces. I love the amount of details involved, the overall character design and mainly the very nice and soft contrast between light & shadows that gives the overall piece a simple but dramatic feel. Yes, maybe is just another fantasy/medieval theme of a beautiful female with an attitude… but is just lovely!!

Just received another book release from Louis Royo, featuring a collection of his latest fantasy illustrations. As I was expecting from my most favorite illustrator, the work is stunning as always. Subversive Beauty is a collection of female portraits / illustrations showcasing the concept of the subversive beautiful woman along with writings from the artist. For anyone into this kind of fantasy art then this is a nice addition to their collections. You can view an online gallery of the books illustrations here and you can purchase the book from here.

Not only the God of War video game series is based on the great Greek mythology, but it also has an excellent set of concept artworks behind it from some very talented artists. So there is no surprise that the game it self has on of the best designs and visual adaptations of Greek mythology. One of those artists is Andy Park, who from comic book and magazine illustrations he joined the art team for God of War II over at Sony Computer Entertainment America, to help create the visual world of the game. And he did some great work for it. You can check out here some concept art from GoWII at Andy’s portfolio website.

Jason Chan a digital artist from California, with an impressive portfolio, and still in a young age (god, I hate that). :) He has a very comic book style of drawing, with a nice blend of western and eastern cultural influences and overall a very colorful and enjoyable one; even on his dark & horror themes. My favorite pieces must be the art for the World of Warcraft Guru. You can check them out here.

Definitely one of my most favorite paintings out there, this is the winning piece for the ‘The Journey Begins’ CGChallenge by Dehong He. Is simply a stunning piece, capturing the “journey begins” challenge within an epic fantasy theme where the high spirits of good and evil are in once again in war and the human species is in the middle, weak, small and helpless.
A great concept and the execution is excellent. You can view how the painting has progressed from start to finish here.
