DIGITAL PAINTINGS:
ORIENTAL SCARS
April 2009

Type: Digital Painting
Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Cintiq 21ux
We all have them. Scars that define bravery, scars that define devotion. Marks of spirituality and amulets of protection.
We choose to wear them; even though we rather hide them.
Inspired by Chinese tattoos. Originally it started to be an Elven woman walking in a forest but thinking it was too cliché I had it developed to include more oriental influences. Purely done in Photoshop with a Cintiq21ux and used a stock photo as a reference for the pose and body. I also used stock images as reference for the tattoos, and used stock brushes for the fabric's pattern.

HIDDEN SECRETS
March 2008

Type: Digital Painting
Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Intuos3
We all have our share of secrets we try to keep hidden from the public, no matter how innocent we may try to be. Trying hard to keep them hidden could create our own personal jail and then will be too late for us setting anything free.
I've developed this purely in Photoshop CS3, and used photo reference for the Angel's pose. I tried to keep the composition simple with not too many details to over-complicate things and keep the focus on the Angel.

AELLA
July 2007

Type: Digital Painting
Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Intuos3
I have always been inspired and fascinated by the fantasy women of Luis Royo, my favorite artist, and I always wanted to create a piece that draws those influences but is based on my own personal style. This work is my first approach for doing this. ‘Aella’ is an Amazon warrior in Greek mythology slain by Heracles. Her name means “whirlwind”. The only references I used from mythology about Aella were just her name. All clothes, weapon and style is my own interpretation of a modern Amazon warrior. This piece took me a lot of time and effort since the lighting and shadows where big challenge to get just right. It was done completely in Photoshop from scratch, and some partial photo references where used for the pose and anatomy.

DRUID (3D STUDY)
September 2008

Type: 3D Sculpture
Tools: ZBrush 3, Intuos 3
I've started learning ZBrush3 which I find an amazing tool for sculpting characters in 3D. It feels very free and artistic and is a tool I'd like to use more for my character creations. The above study is my very first approach for sculpting the face of Warcraft's Night Elf Druid, Broll Bearmantle, from a figurine toy that I own.
INTERACTIVE:
REDEMPTION
August 2005

Type: Flash Adventure Game
Role: Game Designer, Game Developer, Writter,
Tools: Adobe Photoshop, Flash, Illustrator, 3D Studio Max, Poser, Sony Sound Forge
Redemption is a point & click adventure game demo in a first person perspective, created, developed and produced by me as my final project of my Postgraduate degree course in Design for Interactive Media. Aim of the game was to create an adventure experience purely made in Flash as a way for extending my skills in interactive design, programming and 3D design. Throughout the development progress Redemption became a much more ambitious project than what was originally met to be, and as a result was the development of a fully playable demo of an adventure game with fully designed environments, characters and an extensive storyline and gameplay. In September 2005 the game was exhibit at the React degree show in London with a great response from the visitors who tried and tested the game. Some of the comments from the people who signed my visitors book where as follows:
“Very fascinating and intriguing creation, the combination of amazing graphics, music and environments make for a potentially superb dark and mysterious adventure game. Great work on the drawings!!! The level of difficulty is quite over the top for the average gamer however it did keep me frustrated for 1 hour until I solved it!” - Alex Spyrou
“A wonderful work and very imaginative. Congratulations!!!” - unknown visitor
“Your game is difficult & requires times, but it does have good atmosphere. well done.” - Ally Ellison
“Brilliant!! Good graphics and structure” - Sakis
“Very slick - I like it” - unknown visitor
“I have been redeemed!!! Thank-you” - unknown visitor
“Sick (in a good way)” - unknown visitor
At the moment Redemption still remains as a demo with no future plans for further development.

GOTHIC EXPLORATION
1999-2001

Type: Sketches
Tools: Sketchbooks, soft pencils
Done at a young period of my life where I was exploring a lot the dark and gothic art, from various sources, including poems, quotes and sayings. The same time I invented my own secret writting and was a way of self expression through words and drawings.
ABOUT ME
My name is Loris Stavrinides, I'm a professional Designer & Illustrator from Nicosia, Cyprus, and this is my portfolio of my personal art and illustration.
Since young age I have always had a passion about drawing fantastic characters, superheroes, angels, demons, and mainly sexy and beautiful women; and it wasn't too long until I developed my art to be more mature with a mixture of Fantasy and Gothic Art. Due to my cultural and family background I also tent to create work that has a hint of Mysticism, Spirituality, and Symbolism which makes it more personal for me by giving it more meaning.
My favorite artist of all times is Luis Royo, who’s work has been inspiring me for years. Probably most of my work reflects the style of Royo, but I now try to include a lot more other influences for defining my own personal style.
Even though I have been drawing traditionally since really young in age, I have only started painting digitally the last 4 years on my free time. On this website I only feature a few selections of my digital work that I feel are at a good quality to show and really represents my style.
For inspiration I like to play Action/Adventures and RPG Games, and I also collect a lot of Art books. I tent to watch a lot of movies in Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Thriller, Action and Adventure genre, and even though I'm also a DJ into EDM music I love to listen to Cinematic / Soundtrack music while working, something that really inspires my artwork. Additional sources of inspirations are Mythology and Photography!
My current ambition is to develop a lot more digital paintings, improve my digital art & character design skills, get my work featured in a book and magazines, and one day even publish my own illustrated book.
And in case you where wondering... I'm a Scorpion, my favorite colour is Black and my favorite animal is the White Tiger :)
Thank you for viewing my work and feel free to contact me for any feedback.
